TALLAHASSEE, Florida – Florida state cross country racers Adriaan Wildschutt and Lauren Ryan were recognized as the ACC Performer of the Week following their victories at the Covered Bridge Open in Boone, North Carolina on Friday.

“What a great way to start the cross country season,” said FSU head coach Bob Braman. “It’s a wonderful honor for Lauren and Adriaan.”

Wildschutt won his third consecutive ACC Performer of the Week title, after clocking 24: 48.53 in the men’s 8K for the win. His time was almost 20 seconds ahead of the next competitor.

Wildschutt was also recognized for the award following the FSU XC Winter Invite and FSU Last Chance Meet in February and March earlier this year.

The Ceres, from South Africa, led the Noles to victory with a total of 36 points.

Ryan was named ACC Female Co-Performer of the Week with Sasha Neglia of North Carolina.

Competing in his first competition since the 2019 NCAA Championships, Ryan crossed the finish line clocking 17: 05.35 in the 5K for first place.

The Brighton, Australia native led the women’s team to 18th in the tag team title with a total of 26 points.

This is the second weekly ACC honor of his career. She won her first after the Covered Bridge Open 2019, where she placed second.

The Seminoles will host the FSU Open early in the morning of September 17th at Apalachee Regional Park. For more information on Florida State Cross Country, follow Twitter @FSU_Track and Instagram @FSU_Track.
