Former Indian batter and current head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), VVS Laxman on Tuesday praised the Indian team for beating Bangladesh in the ongoing ICC Women’s ODI World Cup clash . Half a century of Yastika Bhatia led a comeback for the Women in Blue as they went 229 for seven in the ICC Women’s World Cup underway on Tuesday.

Bangladesh were hampered by early wickets which left them struggling on 35 for five and Sneh Rana took four for 30 to eventually eliminate the Tigresses 110 from their goal.

“Wonderful effort by Indian girls to beat Bangladesh overall. Perfectly clinical performances and wishing @BCCIWomen the best for the next game,” VVS Laxman tweeted.

Meanwhile, former India striker Wasim Jaffer also took to his Twitter and wrote, “The dream continues. This World Cup ends on the wire. Well done @BCCIWomen.”

For Bangladesh, Ritu Moni produced the best numbers in the innings with three for 37. Salma Khatun was Bangladesh’s top scorer with 32 for 35 balls but left with Bangladesh on 75 for six just after the halfway mark of the innings and the Tigresses could not recover.

Bangladesh will now face two teams they have yet to face in the ODIs, starting with already qualified Australia before completing the group stages by taking on titleholders England.
