PPG Industries: Completes COLORFUL COMMUNITIES Project at Ba Long Primary and Secondary School in Vietnam

BA LONG, Quang Tri Province, Vietnam, September 24, 2021 – PPG (NYSE: PPG) today announced the completion of a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES® project at Ba Long Primary and Secondary School in Quang Province Tri, in central Vietnam. The project revitalized and embellished 24 classrooms, 15 functional rooms and two libraries.

PPG supplied approximately 175 gallons (666 liters) of wood, metal and anti-graffiti coatings the company produces in Vietnam, as well as over 1,560 gallons (5,900 liters) of TAUBMANS â„¢ paint supplied by PPG Australia, a iconic Australian brand of PPG. PPG has granted more than $ 35,000 (approximately 800 million dong) to support the renovation of classrooms and the schoolyard.

The Colorful communities The program provides volunteers and PPG products as well as financial contributions to bring color and vitality to communities where the company operates globally, such as Vietnam, where PPG has administrative and manufacturing facilities.

Ba Long Primary and Secondary School is located in an area that experiences more natural disasters than any other place in Vietnam. The Ba Long region was destroyed by five consecutive floods and a number of landslides in October 2020, which caused severe damage to infrastructure and property. Flash floods triggered by heavy rains severely damaged the school, which has 455 students and 48 teachers.

During the Colorful communities project, students at the school inspired a local artist who created vibrant murals on exterior walls to raise awareness and illustrate the importance of environmental protection, especially the establishment and protection of forests for prevent flooding. The murals included directions on how to prepare for and deal with flooding. PPG volunteers also painted the interior and exterior walls of the school in a cheerful color palette of yellow and green.
