WALNUT CREEK, California, September 14, 2021 – As part of the innovative new season format of the NBA G League, the NBA G League Ignite is slated for 14 league competitions this fall in the Showcase Cup.
The Expanded Showcase Cup consists of the 29 G League plus Ignite teams, separated into four regional groups, with each team playing 12 games in the NBA G League markets. The teams with the best winning percentage in each regional group, as well as the next four teams in the league with the best winning percentages, will advance to compete for the Showcase Cup in a knockout tournament at the NBA G League Winter Showcase. , set from December 19 to 22. The remaining 22 teams will each play two non-Showcase Cup matches during the Winter Showcase.
“We are so excited to start next season competing in the Showcase Cup, and we look forward to giving our young players early opportunities to learn and develop against tough opponents in the G League,” said the Ignite Head Coach Jason Hart.
Ahead of Ignite’s 14 Showcase Cup competitions, the team will also play pre-season exhibition games at the Iowa Wolves (October 29) and Sioux Falls Skyforce (October 31).
Ignite will not compete in the NBA G League regular season, which begins after the Showcase Cup, but additional competition will be announced at a later date.

Led by new head coach Jason Hart, Ignite returns to the pitch for his second season with a slew of Top 10 rookies including Jaden Hardy (ESPN # 2, 2021), Michael Foster Jr. (ESPN # 7, 2021) and Scoot Henderson (ESPN # 7, 2022), as well as NBA Global Academy product Dyson Daniels.
