Former Hatch and Rio Tinto executive to lead development of integrated battery graphite businesses

EcoGraf Limited (EcoGraf or the Company) (ASX: EGR; ESF: FMK; OTCQX: ECGFF) is pleased to announce that Mr. Dale Harris, a highly experienced executive, has joined the company as Chief Operating Officer, with responsibility for driving the development of its integrated battery graphite business.

Career summary

Mr. Harris has over 30 years of industry experience in the resource, mineral processing and engineering sectors, with a demonstrated track record of successful project delivery and operational performance.

His qualifications include:

  • Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Adelaide

  • Masters in Business Administration from the University of Western Australia

  • Completion of leadership and administration courses at the London Business School and the Australian Institute of Company Directors

During a career spanning nearly 20 years with Rio Tinto, Mr. Harris held increasingly senior positions in Australia and overseas in the areas of business planning and analysis, development projects, construction and commissioning, mining and mineral processing operations, business development, asset management, integrated planning, automation and business improvement.

At Rio Tinto Iron Ore, he served as Chief Operating Officer as well as several General Manager positions where his responsibilities included the successful operation and continuous improvement of multiple mines and infrastructure networks over a period of rapidly expanding. He was the first General Manager of Perth’s state-of-the-art remote operations center and was responsible for rolling out the Lean Six Sigma improvement program.

He was later appointed managing director of Gindalbie Metals Limited, then chief executive of its Karara mining joint venture, successfully turning around the ramp-up of its magnetite mining and beneficiation development in the Midwest, d worth billions of dollars. Most recently, Mr. Harris was Director of the Hatch Global Engineering Group, where he was responsible for leading the Perth office through a period of significant expansion and growth. During this time, Dale and the Hatch team have worked with clients across multiple industries on the development, construction, optimization and management of complex Battery Minerals, Bulk Commodities and Base Metals projects in Australia and overseas.

The EcoGraf Board of Directors is delighted to have attracted someone of the caliber of Mr. Harris, who joins the company at an exciting time as it prepares to begin building its first EcoGraf™ HF.free Battery Anode Material Facility in Western Australia and is also finalizing development agreements for its Epanko Graphite project in Tanzania.

His extensive experience in project development and operations will be invaluable to the company as he works with Managing Director Andrew Spinks and the Board to drive the development of EcoGraf’s vertically integrated battery minerals business, leveraging EcoGraf™ HFfree purification process to make high purity battery anode material from high quality Epanko graphite.

Demand for natural graphite, driven by the global lithium-ion battery market, is expected to grow at a rate of 31.5% per year1 in the current decade, customers needing new sources of supply and looking to reduce their dependence on existing supply chains in China.
