| About Us
Australia Street Infants School is a specialist early childhood learning centre that caters for children 0-8 years through innovative programs within Lennox House, Pre-School and K-2 Infants School. We aim to provide a safe, happy and stimulating learning environment which fosters co-operation and teamwork throughout our learning community.
Our central purpose is to provide your child with the necessary knowledge, understanding, skills, values and attitudes to ensure a sound foundation for life-long learning, through the provision of a relevant, meaningful and practical curriculum which takes into consideration prior knowledge, developing interests and needs of your child.
Australia Street Infants School is a unique inner city infants school established in 1889. The School provides critical family services within a focused integrated continuum of early learning through Lennox House community centre (0-5 years), pre-school program (3-5 years) and K-2 Infants School (4-8years). There are presently 125 students enrolled in 6 classes, plus preschool and an additional 400 casual pattern attendees through Lennox House.
The school is unique in that it is the only school that provides educational and social programs for students exclusively over the 0 – 8 years range, and over the course of it's history has received much attention for innovative practice within early childhood education through; the Australia Street Project in the 1980's and more recently its pioneering work in educational technologies within Early Childhood Education.

Starting school with us
Starting school is a significant step for the whole family not just your child. At Australia Street we are committed to ensuring that the whole family is involved in the transition to school. In this regard we aim to ensure that not only is your child familiar with our school and teachers, but that you are also provided with opportunities to meet our staff, tour our school and attend parent workshops that cover all aspects of school policies, procedures and general school life. We believe that with your first child in particular parents are making an equally significant step in transitioning to school along with their child and as such needs to be a significant part of our transition to school programs that we provide each year.
