The Australia Street Infants School P&C is an important part of the life of our school community.
The Parents and Citizens Organisation (P&C) of Australia Street Infants School is called ASSCO - the Australia Street School Community Organisation.
ASSCO is the representative body of the parents of Australia Street Infants School.
ASSCO has a supportive and productive relationship with the school. Our main role is to support the aims of the school. We do this through:
- shared decision-making processes
- as a consultation group regarding broader initiatives and educational issues
- and of course, fundraising (link to fundraising page).
Over the last few years, major outcomes of this relationship have been the purchase and installation of astro-turf in the playground, educational resources for the classrooms, including iPads and bag hooks for the entire school.
Projects planned for the future include the purchasing more iPads, purchase and installation of a water tank, and tree planting for the school playground.
Other recent ASSCO projects/outcomes have included a submission to the Submission to the Senate Select Committee on Education Funding, and lobbying on behalf of our school and other small schools against the proposed changes to Principal classifications and school structures.
ASSCO, in partnership with the school also manages and runs the Australia Street Infants School’s Outside School Hours Care program (before and after school and vacation care).
Office bearers are elected at the AGM in February of each year.
The 2014 ASSCO Executive (office bearers) are:
President: Sarah Mitchell (Callie, Year 1/2 Emeralds)
Secretary: Andrew Duncanson (Clare, Year 2 Quartz)
Treasurer: Will Souter (Henry, Year 1 Obsidian)
The fund-raisers this year are Elizabeth Kenyon, Katie Hook and Ulrike Langer. If you would like to assist with any of our upcoming events or would like to discuss sponsorship arrangements, please contact them on
Meetings are held on the last Wednesday of the month at 7 pm in the school library (except during school holidays).
For parents, ASSCO is an excellent way of getting involved in the life of the school.
We encourage as many parents as possible to join ASSCO and look forward to welcoming you to the P&C.
In addition to its other duties, ASSCO oversees the management of Australia Street’s out of school hours care service (OOSHC).
ASSCO is affiliated with the NSW P&C Federation.
